Trees

Acer platanoides -  Sizes Available 10-12 /12-14

The Norway Maple is a fast growing tree, eventually quite large, but can be easily pruned to confine its spread for many years.  It spreads to make a lovely rounded crown and is sufficiently robust to be grown in exposed areas, can be used as a windbreaker.  The leaves are 5-lobed, turning bright yellow and are orange or brown in autumn. It has scented yellow flowers which grow in clusters on the bare branches in spring.

Acer plat. “Crimson King”

The Norway Maple is a fast growing tree, eventually quite large, but can be easily pruned to confine its spread form many years.  It spreads to make a lovely rounded crown and is sufficiently robust to be grown in exposed areas, can be used as a windbreaker.  The foliage of the “Crimson King” is quite stunning, dark reddish brown when young becoming crimson purple for the rest of the year.  The flowers are deep yellow, tinged with red and grow in clusters on the tree before the leaves appear.

Carpinus bet. Fastigiata

The hornbeam is a dense columar tree when young, becoming pyramidal with age.  A very good screen, specimen or street tree.  It is a deciduous green leaves that are ovate to oblong. In the Autumn the leaves are a brilliant yellow and the leaves often stay on the tree till Spring.

Fagus sylvatica

Also known as “Common Beech”.  It is one of our most majestic native trees.  The Common Beech can become very large with its low branched habit.  A superb specimen which is widely used for hedging.  Beech thrives just about anywhere.

Betula Pendula

Betual utilis jacquiemontii commonly known as White bared Himalayan Birch

This variety has the whitest bark of any birch.  An elegant tree suitable for both small and large gardens.  It will brighten up a winter garden with its white bark which shows up beautifully in the low sun.  It can be grown as a specimen in the lawn or in a group to create a woodland effect.  It is a deciduous tree.

Prunus cerasifera “Nigra”

Prunus cerasifera “Nigra”  commonly known as Cherry Plum

One of the earliest flowering Cherry Trees, this eye-catching specimen announces the arrival of spring with a fantastic show of pink/white flowers in early to mid-spring.  It is easily recognizable for its pink flowers and blackish, purple foliage.  It is an alternative to the red maple for colour, this cherry is also suitable for hedging.  It is a deciduous tree.

Hedging

Prunus Laurocerasus Rotundifolia - Common Laurel

Fast growing Evergreen Hedge with glossy dark leaves.

Prunus Lusitanica - Portuguese Laurel

Hedge with luxurious dark green, glossy leaves on beautiful bright deep pink stems.  It has small fragrant white flowers in the Summer and small red fruits in Winter.

Fagus Sylvatica - Beech

Hedge with green leaves that turn to golden in Autumn and russet colour in Winter.  It retains its russet leaf throughout the winter and they are replaced when the new growth appears in Spring.

Fagus Sylvatica Atropurpurea  - Copper Beech

A beautiful hedge with copper/purple leaves which turn russet colour in Winter.  It retains its russet leaf throughout the winter and they are replaced when the new growth appears in Spring.

Photinia x Fraseri – Photinia Red Robin

This is a marvellous alternative choice for an evergreen hedge because of its brilliant red glossy young leaves, which give a spectacular display in spring and summer before maturing to dark green. It's not a particularly dense shrub, so it has some movement in the breeze.  It develops clusters of small white flowers in mid and late spring, sometimes followed by red fruit - but it is the spring foliage that sets this hedging shrub apart.
